PROGRAMME

Day 1

Guests are expected to arrive in the afternoon, no earlier than 2 PM. Pickup will take place in Torre de Passeri, where coaches from the Rome airports stop (please check prontobusitalia.it for coach schedules). For those arriving by train, the pickup will be at the Torre de Passeri train station. Please note that trains from Rome can be slow and are not advisable; instead, we recommend taking the bus or coach for a more convenient and faster option.

A meet-and-greet with all participants will be held at 7:30 PM, where you will be welcomed with a drink. Your tutor, Colleen, will provide an overview of the workshop content, introducing the various printmaking methods we will explore over the next six days. After a delicious dinner, you’ll have the opportunity to brainstorm ideas in preparation for your upcoming classes.

Day 2-7

This immersive Advanced Printmaking course explores the innovative world of Pronto Plate and advanced etching techniques. While designed primarily for artists with prior printmaking experience, beginners are also welcome and will have access to a reduced programme tailored to their skill level. This ensures everyone can participate meaningfully and benefit from the course.

Participants will learn the intricacies of Pronto Plate, discovering how to create rich, textured prints using eco-friendly materials. Additionally, the course will cover advanced etching techniques, enabling you to produce intricate designs and experiment with multiple layers in combination with Pronto Plate.

A highlight of the course is the opportunity to delve into papermaking, where you'll learn to produce your own paper from scratch, allowing you to print directly on your handmade creations. Through hands-on workshops and guided projects, you’ll expand your technical repertoire and creative possibilities, ultimately enhancing your personal artistic style. Whether you aim to push the boundaries of traditional printmaking or explore new artistic avenues, this course is perfect for those ready to elevate their practice to the next level.

On day four, a half-day excursion is planned to visit Chieti and its archaeological museum, home to the famous Warrior of Capestrano. In the late afternoon, we will head to Pescara to visit the Museum of the 19th Century and enjoy a delicious dinner in the historic part of the city.

After breakfast, it will be time to say goodbye, taking home new skills and lasting memories from this enriching experience.
